Yes, I should have been a doctor...or maybe Kevin should have been...or someone in our immediate family! Why, you ask? Because we could save a lot of money (minus the cost of med school).
This week has continued to be a sick week. Mason started his bad coughing again Sunday night/Monday morning early, and woke up Monday morning with horrible congestion. This while only a little over half way through his 14 days of antibiotic (and third round of antibiotics). By Monday afternoon the daycare called and said he was sounding worse. We went to the doctor and his tonsils were still extremely swollen. Dr. Sneed placed him back on a steroid, extended his antibiotic for another 7 days, and planned to contact the ENT in Little Rock to schedule a consult & tentative surgery for the day after the consult. She decided to send us to LR because she thinks his airpassage needs checked. Apparently after being put to sleep repeatedly scar tissue can form and result in a crouping cough. Since Mason has been sedated 4 or 5 times (it's horrible that I can't remember the exact number), she thinks we need to have this checked while we get the other done.
Anna had been coughing for a few days and started complaining of a sore throat. Wednesday afternoon the daycare called and said she wasn't feeling well...complaining of her throat hurting, not eating lunch, etc. So Wednesday afternoon she went to the doctor. She was swabbed to check for strep but thankfully it was negative. She had lots of drainage and got some "bug juice" (Dr. Sneed's term for antibiotic). One of the nurses saw me when Anna & I went back to an exam room. She asked "so you're here with the other child today?!" I told her that we really like them and enjoy coming to visit! Then I stated "I really need to get a job here!"
We still don't have Mason's appointment in Little Rock. Apparently the ENT was out of town until Thursday. I got a call Friday from Dr. Sneed's nurse that the ENT was aware of our need and will be getting us an appointment. She said if I don't hear from the ENT's office in a few WEEKS to call her back. WEEKS??? You've got to be kidding. He's going to have been on steroids so long that he'll have huge muscles! He already acts like he could pick the house up...what will he be like in a few weeks?!!
Today our family did something that seldom happens...we stayed home. I've only stepped out the door to feed the cats. It has been nice to hang out and relax. I definitely think it was good for Anna & Mason to stay in out of the cold weather. It didn't hurt for Kevin and I to have a slow day either. I've got the sinus junk going on too. Maybe this next week will bring healthier days for us.
God has blessed me with a wonderful family!
