1st Day of School Continued

I picked Anna up from school yesterday afternoon. It was quite an experience. The line was already starting to form when I arrived a little after 2:30. (I went early because I'd never done this and wanted to get an idea of how it worked.) As I sat more and more vehicles started lining up along the streets in front of the school. Finally about 3:10 the line started moving slowly and inching toward the front doors of the school. I was so anxious to see Anna and hear all about her day. When it was finally my turn I saw Anna's beautiful, smiling face waiting for me. The best sight of the day!! The car duty lady opened the door, Anna jumped in and we drove away. The first day of school was over!

As we drove Anna told me all about her day. One of the first things she said was "Nap was really, really short!" I know this must have excited her because she didn't like naptime at Pre-K. At Pre-K it was 2 hours, and she never slept. At Kindergarten it is only 40 minutes. She talked about art, recess, swinging and sliding, lunch (chicken fried steak, mashed tators), snack time, playing in centers, etc. She talked with enthusiasm (which delighted me.) After getting home she said "Maybe school aint so bad afterall." What a relief to know things went well on her first day!

Anna taught me a new song that she learned about the days of the week. Once Kevin got home and everyone was ready for church, Anna got to open a small gift. She loved "Hannah Montana the Movie" at the theater, so I bought her the movie. She was so excited.
Anna had a great first day of school!
